Don't Guess

Hi,
  I know we all have someone we look up to and think "wow they are so perfect and nothing is wrong with them and they are so happy". The truth is it might surprise you what people think about themselves. I know what you are thinking now too "there is nothing about them not to like. I mean they are pretty, smart, funny, talented." I'm sure all of those things you said are true, but think of it this way what if someone thought you were all those things???? Would you think "of course they are right I mean look at me I'm awesome" or would you think "well it is nice that you think that but it's not true"....... Which are you?????
The thing is everyone has something they hate. For example every single day I have people telling me "you're so driven, you're so smart, you're pretty, you're talented, (and my personal favorite) everything works for you". I hear those things a lot but I don't think any of it is true. If someone told you those things would you think it was true or would you think that they are just being nice?
I hope everyone can keep in mind these things because just because you see a beautiful person with a perfect grade point average and the big school scholarship with the seemingly perfect family "doesn't mean that nothing is wrong". Lets take that imaginary person and give you just a few things that could be wrong.
WHAT SHE FEELS: bullied, depression, no faith, abused, feeling like no one will ever love them, confused, lost, pressured, stressed, scared, alone, pathetic,dumb

Those are a couple of things that our person feels right now but what you see is entirely different! Here is how you would describe her.

WHAT YOU SEE: smiling, confident, never afraid, accomplished, perfect, happy, cheerful, full of faith, full of spirit, loved

Wow! That was so different! Want to know something crazy? Sometimes saying those things is wonderful and kind but saying them to a point were you feel you don't amount to your role model (can lead to depression) can hurt you and the person you look up to! In the end of you would both be stressed sad and confused. Please remember to love yourself too!

Dolly Parton!

Hi,
  Dolly Parton is our first ever role model of the month! Her name when she was born was Dolly Rebecca Parton. She was born January 19th 1946 in Tennessee. Her occupation is singer/song-writer, record producer, actress, author, musician, and business women. She has been active since 1955!

WHY SHE WAS ON THE POLL
Dolly Parton is so amazing she shows that you don't have to settle for just one career! A lot of people think you can just pick one line of work but for very ambitious people that is just torture!  Also many people can respect how she came from nothing and worked her way up. She started working when she was a very small child! Dolly Parton can also play many instruments including: vocals, guitar, banjo, autoharp, piano, drums, and many more.
When you think about it, what is there not to like she is ambitious, strong, talented, kind, she believes girls should feel good about themselves she also believes she is just as good as anyone else. It is so wonderful to have role models like her around!
